Denver Catholic Biblical and Catechetical school director Nicolas Lebish has some words for those who might neglect staying sharp in the faith in the hot summer days: “Don’t let your love of studying and praying over the faith cool this summer!”

The biblical school is actively accepting registration for its main courses starting back up in the Fall, but there are also opportunities for those scripture nerds who like to keep busy during the summer, too – specifically those who want to up their catechism street cred.

“Ladder of Ascent: A Journey through the Catechism,” taught by Dr. Sean Innerst of the Augustine Institute, is designed to do just that. This two-week intensive course is ideal for directors of religious education, youth ministers, RCIA instructors, catechists,  deacons, or anyone else who wants to dive into the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The class will not present the content of the Catechism as a series of “dry facts”; rather, it will explore its content as a transformative journey back to the God who made us by way of the “Ladder of Ascent” that the Catechism describes.

The course will run June 18 – 29 (Monday through Friday), 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., and will be held in Room 121 at the St. John Paul II Center. To register, visit sjvdenver.edu/laydivision/summer2018programs.
