As Colorado approaches its 150th anniversary, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Denver — and indeed, the state — marks 120 years on the corner of Logan and Colfax in Downtown Denver.

From that perch, just slightly higher than the Colorado State Capitol, the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver has seen it all: the blessings and challenges, the boons and struggles of metro Denver and its people.

It was this very history that FOX31 KDVR highlighted in a recent feature on Colorado's "most famous Catholic church." Interviewing Father Sam Morehead, the cathedral's former rector, they dove into the church's history, architecture and meaning in an apostolic age.

Ahead of the nation's 250th and the state's 150th, the feature shows how Catholics have played a central role in our country's history, and how such a beautiful church continues to lead people to God.
