The dignity of every human person is at the heart of the Church’s mission, and Catholics across Northern Colorado will soon have a chance to deepen their understanding and sharpen their skills in defending life. The annual Gospel of Life Workshop will take place Saturday, October 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization in Denver.

This year’s theme, Engaging Hearts and Minds for Life, will guide participants through practical ways of accompanying women in need, fostering healing and sharing the Church’s vision of human dignity with compassion and clarity.

"The Respect Life Office's Gospel of Life workshop during this Jubilee Year of Hope is meant to bring our Respect Life community together to remember that we are not alone," said Emma Ramirez, director of Respect Life Denver, a ministry of Catholic Charities. "Even in the current climate of our state, there is so much to be hopeful about and so many ways we can continue to strive for a culture of life. We would love to see you there!"

Featured speakers

The workshop will feature Chelsy Gomez, program consultant to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat of Pro-Life Activities. Through the National Walking with Moms in Need initiative, Gomez helps dioceses and parishes expand outreach to pregnant and parenting mothers. She brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her mission of equipping Catholics to build communities of support for women and families.

Also presenting will be the Sisters of Life, a religious community founded in 1991 by Cardinal John O’Connor. Known for their radical commitment to protecting life, the sisters take a fourth vow — in addition to the standard vows of poverty, chastity and obedience — to protect and enhance the sacredness of human life. They will share insights from their Into Life series, focusing on how to accompany pregnant women with compassion, tenderness and hope.

A morning of faith and formation

The workshop will include presentations, time for reflection and opportunities to connect with others committed to building a culture of life. A continental breakfast and light snacks will be provided.

The Gospel of Life Workshop offers practical tools and spiritual encouragement for Catholics seeking to grow in their understanding of Church teaching and become more effective witnesses to life.

How to participate

The workshop will be held in Bonfils Hall at the St. John Paul II Center for the New Evangelization, 1305 S. Monroe St., Denver. Admission is free, but participants are asked to RSVP by emailing life@ccdenver.org.

Whether you are a seasoned advocate or simply looking for ways to live out your faith more fully, this workshop is an opportunity to be inspired, encouraged and better equipped to proclaim the Gospel of Life in today’s world.
