Denver's saxophone-playing seminarian is preparing for a new role in the great song of salvation as he readies for his ordination to the transitional diaconate on Thursday, October 1.
Carl Berner, a Cleveland-born seminarian for the Archdiocese of Denver studying at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, will be among 17 other seminarians from across the United States entering St. Peter's Basilica on Thursday evening, Rome time, for ordination.
Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, and the founder of Word on Fire Ministries, will be the ordaining prelate at the Mass of Ordination, celebrated at the Altar of the Chair of St. Peter.
The Mass will be aired live on EWTN and livestreamed on EWTN's YouTube channel at 10:00 a.m. Mountain Time.
As the ordination day approaches, Catholics across Northern Colorado are invited to pray for Berner and his brother seminarians, that the Lord might continue to transform their hearts after his own Sacred Heart, making them good, holy, happy and healthy priests for the good of God's kingdom.
