The Archdiocese of Denver announced Thursday that Robert Golka, the father of Archbishop-designate James Golka, had passed. The 92-year-old Nebraska native was known for his loving fatherhood, profound faith and deep care for his family. As the Golka family grieves his loss, only two months after the passing of Archbishop-designate Golka's mother, Patricia, the Archdiocese invites the faithful to pray fervently for them in this difficult time.

Archdiocese of Denver Statement on the Passing of Archbishop-designate Golka’s Father
The Archdiocese of Denver joins our Archbishop-designate James R. Golka and his family in prayer at the death of their father, Robert J. Golka. Robert, a 92-year-old Nebraska native, together with his late wife, Patricia, lovingly raised their ten children in Grand Island, Nebraska. Robert’s life reflected a deep love for his family and a quiet witness of faith that shaped those around him.
This comes only months after the death of Archbishop-designate Golka’s mother, Patricia, in January. As the family grieves, we ask the faithful of the archdiocese to keep the family close in prayer and ask the Lord to surround them with his peace.
Scripture reminds us that God remains near in moments like these: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those whose spirit is crushed” (Psalm 34:19). Even amidst death, we cling to the hope Christ gives us: “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live” (John 11:25).
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Gate of Heaven, intercede for Robert Golka’s eternal rest and for the consolation of the entire Golka family and all those close to him.
