More than a century ago, philanthropists J.K. and Catherine Mullen, guided by their deep Catholic faith, envisioned a community of dignity and compassionate care for older adults to live in North Denver. Entrusted to the Little Sisters of the Poor, the Mullen Home became a beacon of love, prayer and service — a legacy that touched generations.
While we honor this history of compassion, we are excited to embark on a new chapter with a new purpose — introducing Mullen Residences at the Highlands, a vibrant senior living community rooted in the same Catholic values but guided by a renewed mission for today’s world. Inspired by the voices of former residents, staff and volunteers, this transformation honors that Mullen was never just a place to live — it was a true home. Now, it’s reborn as a community for Denver’s older adults to live with comfort, connection and purpose.
Envision stepping onto the beautifully restored 8-acre campus, where the Catholic faith and compassion of the Little Sisters once shaped every corner, laying a lasting foundation of love, dignity, and joy for what comes next. Today, the Archdiocese of Denver, through a visionary partnership with Christian Living Communities (CLC), a trusted leader in senior care for over 50 years, breathes new life into the campus with the creation of Mullen Residences at the Highlands: a faith-centered senior living community thoughtfully designed for today’s older adults.
In the heart of the picturesque West Highlands neighborhood, Mullen Residences aims to offer a blend of historic charm and modern comfort. You will be able to take in breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains and the Denver skyline while enjoying the carefully restored main building and the beautiful on-site chapel, offering a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and Mass.
Along with spacious apartments, amenities will include a wellness center, a state-of the-art theater, and inviting common areas designed to foster community and connection. Here, you can pursue your passions, deepen your faith, nurture meaningful relationships, and experience life abundantly.
