The Colorado Catholic Conference (CCC) calls on Catholics across the state to take action and testify in opposition to House Bill 25-1312, which is scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, April 30. The bill seeks to expand legal protections for transgender individuals across several Colorado statutes. However, the Conference warns that such changes come at the expense of parental rights and First Amendment rights.
According to the CCC, HB25-1312 could have serious consequences for Colorado families, as well as religious organizations and institutions, including Catholic schools — potentially forcing parents to lose custody rights over trans-identifying children. “This bill would compromise the ability of parents to make decisions regarding their children and infringe on the rights of faith-based institutions to operate in accordance with their deeply held religious beliefs,” the CCC said in an official statement.
The faithful are urged to voice their concerns by signing up to testify and by sharing the message with others in their communities. The Colorado Catholic Conference has provided resources and action alerts to help citizens make their voices heard.
