A devoted educator, Viviana Martinez aims not only to teach facts but help her students become who God has created them to be.
The Colorado Department of Education announced 21 semifinalists out of 297 nominations in June 2026 for the annual Colorado Teacher of the Year, among them a local Catholic community member and leader, Viviana Martinez.
The cofounder of Dios Entre Nosotros, Martinez has been active in the Denver Catholic community for many years, especially through her service to the Hispanic community, helping them encounter Jesus Christ and God's plan for their lives.
That same spirit of service, love for neighbor and concern for the Hispanic community extends into her classroom, Martinez shared in a recent interview with Sentinel Colorado.
The heartwarming interview explores Martinez's philosophy of education and leadership, rooted in service and compassion, that helps each of her students discover their God-given gifts and talents to serve others.
