Mental health challenges are touching more individuals and families than ever before. From children navigating anxiety and learning differences to couples working through relationship struggles and adults facing depression, grief or major life transitions, the need for compassionate, accessible care continues to grow across Colorado.

To help meet that need, Catholic Charities’ St. Raphael Counseling recently celebrated the grand opening of its newest clinic in Westminster, expanding access to professional mental health services for families throughout the northern Denver metro area. While the new office marks an exciting milestone, it also reflects something much larger: St. Raphael Counseling's ongoing commitment to making healing and hope available to anyone seeking support.

"As the largest Catholic therapy practice in the country, our mission has always been to provide compassionate, high-quality mental health care rooted in both clinical excellence and human dignity," said Dr. Michelle Connor Harris, licensed clinical psychologist and executive director of St. Raphael Counseling. "Expanding into Westminster allows us to reach more individuals and families who are seeking compassionate, high-quality mental health care grounded in faith."

St. Raphael Counseling serves children, teens, adults, couples and families through a wide range of services, including individual therapy, couples and family counseling,

psychological testing and evaluations for learning differences, attention concerns and autism spectrum disorders. Whether someone is seeking help during a difficult season or looking for long-term support, counselors work to meet each person with compassion, respect and professional expertise.

The ministry's impact extends beyond its clinic walls. Through its school counseling program, counselors serve directly within Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Denver, providing counseling, crisis response and consultation with teachers and families. By working alongside school communities, counselors help students address challenges such as anxiety, behavioral concerns, dyslexia, autism and other social or emotional needs before those struggles become larger obstacles.

Accessibility is central to every aspect of the ministry. St. Raphael Counseling accepts

most insurance plans, including Medicaid, offers flexible scheduling and provides sliding-scale fees so financial circumstances are not a barrier to receiving care. In addition to in-person appointments, telehealth services allow clients to connect with counselors from the comfort of their homes, making support available wherever it is needed.

St. Raphael Counseling’s newest clinic joins a growing network of locations across Colorado, including Evergreen, Greenwood Village, Englewood, Littleton, Denver, Arvada and now Westminster. Together, these locations are helping ensure that individuals and families can access care closer to home.

Community leaders who attended the Westminster grand opening emphasized the importance of expanding mental health resources throughout the region.

"It was great to meet the team and see the space," said Kevin Molloy, director of mission integration at St. Anthony North and Longmont United Hospitals. "We know that in this service area, especially in this area of Westminster, there's a high need for quality mental health services.”

Ivy Donaldson, director of behavioral health and education for St. Anthony North Family Medicine, also welcomed the clinic's arrival.

"I'm really excited that there is another organization with well-trained therapists who are excited to support community members," she said. "There's such a need for mental health support ... to know that there's another source for a range of people to have better access to mental health care is really exciting."

Those partnerships reflect a shared commitment to caring for the whole person — physically, emotionally and spiritually. As mental health needs continue to grow across Colorado, St. Raphael Counseling remains focused on walking alongside every individual with compassion, dignity and hope.
