While many flock to Colorado’s mountains for fall adventures, fewer know about several hidden (and holy) spots tucked among the changing aspens. From century-old stone chapels perched in the Rockies to peaceful retreat centers surrounded by aspen groves, these sites blend nature’s beauty with sacred spaces. These locations offer spiritual solace nestled in some of the most scenic corners of the state, making them perfect stops for a fall color tour.

Whether you're seeking a quiet place to reflect, a picturesque backdrop for photos or simply a unique twist on your autumn road trip, these landmarks provide the perfect setting to soak in the season’s splendor.

Camp St. Malo - 10758 CO-7

Allenspark, CO

The St. Catherine of Siena Chapel on the Rock at Camp St. Malo is an iconic location just north of Allenspark. The beautiful stone structure is situated on top of a rock formation – hence the name – with stunning views of several of Colorado’s most revered mountains, including the 14,256-foot Longs Peak. Surrounded by greenery that turns vibrant with the turn of the season, Camp St. Malo is a beautiful place to reflect, marvel in nature and spend a peaceful fall afternoon. Even Pope St. John Paul II recognized this gem of Colorado’s mountains, visiting the site near the turn of the season in August of 1993 following World Youth Day.

Our Lady of The Pines Catholic Church - 9444 Eagle Cliff Rd

Conifer, CO

South of the Indian Hills and Evergreen, Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church is a mountain parish and perfect stopping spot off of Highway 285 for a moment of reflection, some time to stretch your legs and to view the scenery that surrounds the church. With Berian Mountain to the northwest of the church, Owl’s Perch Trail just down the road and the South Turkey Creek flowing on the other side of the highway, there are several ways to revel in the autumnal beauty of creation near this parish.

Mother Cabrini Shrine - 20189 Cabrini Blvd

Golden, CO

Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden, Colorado, offers a peaceful place for quiet reflection. Established in honor of Mother Cabrini, the first woman to be honored with a state holiday in Colorado, the shrine features a beautiful chapel, meditation walk and panoramic views in the foothills of the Rockies. Visitors can take time for serene silence while enjoying one of Colorado’s most picturesque seasonal landscapes.

Our Lady of Lourdes - 902 Taos St

Georgetown, CO

Situated right up against the Front Range and the Arapaho National Forest, Our Lady of Lourdes in Georgetown offers views of cascading pines up its surrounding peaks. The changing colors are visible all around the parish with Mt. Bierstadt, Mt. Saxon, and other popular hiking spots in close proximity. With Guanella Pass nearby and South Clear Creek running less than a block away, Our Lady of Lourdes is tucked into a nature-filled pocket of this well-known mountain town.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church - 109 South French St.

Breckenridge, CO

Located in one of Colorado’s most popular ski destinations, St. Mary’s Catholic Church is a quieter location in the fall than it may be during the winter months. The beautiful city of Breckenridge has activities for individuals of all ages, and St. Mary’s offers a quiet space within the tranquil fall paradise before winter ramps the city up to its normal bustle.

Our Lady of Peace - 89 Smith Ranch Rd.

Silverthorne, CO

Silverthorne is a similarly quiet town outside of ski season, making for another beautiful and picturesque location to observe Colorado’s vibrant fall. Near Loveland Pass and Dillon Reservoir and surrounded by a bounty of trailheads, parks and several smaller lakes that trail north of the expansive reservoir, Our Lady of Peace is yet another mountain parish where the natural beauty of changing seasons can be glimpsed all around.
