Friends of St. Andrew soup kitchen celebrates 35 years of ministry, featured in "Aurora Sentinel"

For 35 years, the Friends of St. Andrew soup kitchen has offered hot meals, food baskets, and other essential services to those in need in Aurora. Located on East Colfax Avenue, the ministry center is run by volunteers from Queen of Peace Catholic parish.

In 2018, the future of the soup kitchen was in doubt as their building was listed for sale, until an anonymous person purchased the building and promised to keep the ministry going.

And the service to the community has continued, even through the pandemic, as the soup kitchen never shut down, but continued to provide meals for 200 people a day.

On Thursday, November 4, a 35-year anniversary celebration was held, attended by Archbishop Samuel Aquila, Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman, and Queen of Peace pastor Fr. Felix Medina-Algaba.
