What does it mean to see the world with a Catholic imagination?
Next week, Denver's own Cardinal J. Francis Stafford will begin explore that very question at the Cardinal Stafford Library at St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver.
In short, the Catholic imagination is the lens through which the faithful view reality, one shaped by sacramental vision and the conviction that God is present and active in the world. It enables Catholics to see the extraordinary in the ordinary — the sacred hidden in the everyday — and engage culture with fidelity and creativity.
Setting the tone
The lecture will take place Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. Cardinal Stafford will reflect on what the Catholic imagination is and why it matters. He will offer robust theological reflections and practical spiritual insights to help the faithful integrate the Catholic, biblical worldview into their everyday lives.
While the event is not open to the public, it will be live-streamed, giving the faithful across Northern Colorado the opportunity to hear directly from Cardinal Stafford.
Why it matters
The Catholic imagination has inspired some of the greatest works of art, literature, music and theology the world has ever known. But more than that, it continues to shape how Catholics live, pray and see the world today. To participate in this lecture is to be reminded that faith is not confined to the walls of a church — it touches every aspect of life and culture.
Catholics across the archdiocese and beyond are invited to deepen their understanding of how faith and culture, imagination and belief, belong together.
