Archbishop James Golka calls on the faithful to pray for Pope Leo XIV following his lung cancer diagnosis and surgery. Read his full statement below.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we hold Pope Leo XIV close in prayer following his lung cancer diagnosis and give thanks to God for his successful surgery. We entrust our Holy Father to Jesus, the Divine Physician, whose love sustains and heals us.

I ask the faithful to please continue to pray for Pope Leo, especially at Mass and through the Holy Rosary. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, intercede for his healing. United as one Body in Christ, let us accompany him as he carries the cross of this diagnosis and healing, while giving thanks to the Lord for a reportedly successful surgery today.
