A Simple Gift That Changes Everything: Marisol Family Urgently Seeks Diaper Donations This Holiday Season

As Advent draws near and families prepare their homes for Christmas, many parents in our own community are quietly struggling with a basic yet overwhelming need: diapers.
For families facing financial hardship, diapers are more than an expense. They can be the dividing line between stability and crisis. Marisol Family, a ministry of Catholic Charities, is once again running its annual Diaper Drive to meet this urgent need. The organization is asking the faithful to consider supporting local mothers and fathers by donating diapers or contributing financially.
The need is profound. Babies require 8–10 diapers every day, yet diapers cannot be purchased through Food Stamps, WIC or Medicare. That reality forces many families into impossible decisions. When parents cannot afford diapers, they may be unable to send their children to daycare. Without daycare, they may be unable to work or attend school. What seems like a simple product becomes, for many, the very thing that threatens their livelihood and their child’s well-being.
According to national data, nearly half of families with young children cannot afford enough clean diapers. This struggle often intensifies during the holiday season, when heating bills rise, food costs increase and many households already feel stretched thin.
Marisol Family’s staff witness this daily.
Behind every donation is a mother trying to keep her baby clean and healthy. A father working overtime to make ends meet. A family praying for a little relief. Diapers may be small, but they carry enormous dignity, allowing parents to care for their children with the tenderness and stability every child deserves.
What sizes are needed most?
Marisol Family reports that the most urgently needed sizes this season are:
Size 5
Size 6
4T–5T pull-ups
These larger sizes are requested most often by families and run out the fastest at Marisol Family locations across Northern Colorado.
A Corporal Work of Mercy, Close to Home
For Catholics, the diaper drive is more than a seasonal charity effort. It is a concrete response to the Gospel call to serve Christ in one another. Providing diapers supports the Church’s commitment to the dignity of every human life, especially the most vulnerable.
A clean diaper protects a child’s health.
A supply of diapers helps a mother return to work.
A simple donation strengthens a family on the margins.
This is the heart of Catholic social teaching, and a powerful way to prepare for the coming of Christ as a baby at Christmas.
How to Help Today

As we journey through Advent and prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus, may we recognize him in every child and respond with love. A box of diapers may seem small, but for a struggling family, it is nothing short of hope.
